BRILLIANT FIRST GPS

Plenty of routes, biggish screen, easy to use. Totally waterproof
lack of memory. eat batteries for breakfast
An excellent piece of kit, simple to use and ideal as a first GPS. Big screen and works really well with my Fuigawi software. Reasonably priced too. Highly reccomended.

Excellent basic GPS for the hills

50 routes; large(ish) screen; up to 6 concurrent data readouts; ease of use.
Size
All you really need in a GPS for the hills. 50 routes gives more than enough flexibility for when you don't really know where you'll end up. The satellite altitude read-out is plenty accurate enough to give you a quick position on a topo map and who really needs an electronic compass anyway? Coupled with mapping software you can't go wrong. Although it looks big compared to the eTrex, it fits perfectly into the LowePro D-Res 20 pouch, which then has space for 8 AA's.
