Does what it says on the tin

Water on demand. Doubles as a quick shower when out on a wild camp
I'm just always aware the bag might be leaking inside my pack .... hasnt done so far!
Top tip. When you're home for the day. Spray bite valve with a bit of detol antibac or a sterile wipe, Empty the bladder by flushing some of the water through the bite valve (to clean off most of antibac residue so you dont get a nasty taste next time). Put empty platy in a plastic bag and store in freezer till next time. Stops mildew and nasty taste forming

It works but its not great

able to drink on the move
fits in your pack easily as it deforms
expensive for what it is
bite valve leaks
have to clean it thoroughly
in winter the external feed pipe often freezes
got one of these 5 years ago when I got back into serious walking again. I neednt have bothered. Its not just the fact that this one leaks occasionally or that you have to keep cleaning it. Its the fact that its a fairly expensive water bottle at the end of the day. In the past 4 years I have been using water bottles instead and on most rucksacks these days you can reach around and pull the bottle out of a side pocket if you dont want to stop. Some people use Sigg or the like, I use mineral water bottles cos they are cheap, cheerful and do the job
I would never bother again with a platy hoser

ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL BUILD QUALITY

Light, easy to use, cheapish, platypus replace the reservoirs happily enough when they inevitably leak.
The build quality of all platypus products (not just this one) is terrible. I'm on my fourth reservoir, all of the previous three developed leaks, and none of which were dropped, rolled up or otherwise abused. If you were wondering why Platypus offers a lifetime guarantee - its not because the product will last at all, its just that the construction is so simple they can replace them quickly. Also, they develop mould and general bad taste very quickly. Oh, and the tubes develop an incessant drip after about a year, I'm on my 3rd tube as well!
I worked in a fairly large gear shop for two years, these were the single most returned item that we sold. An absolutely terrible product, do yourself a favour and buy a camelback or Source bottle.
