FIRST BUY SOME SUPERGLUE!

the aluminum sigg bottles are probably the best bottles around. they last forever, and can be heated if you need to thaw them out. the closure valve is a good idea.
the bite valve falls off regularly, and then causes a siphon effect which empties the bottle. you also end up hyper ventilating if you try to suck a drink out of it on the move. the closure valve seems a bit loose. expensive for what it is.
I'd be fine with it, if it wasn't for the fact that the bite valve fell off mine some were near the summit of ben nevis, on only the fourth time that i had used it. but the sigg bottles don't have to be replaced every year or so like platypus bottles so its still maybe better than the platypus drinks tube, if you want to convert a drinks bottle. but you will need to superglue the bite valve on!.

THE BITE VALVE IS NO GOOD BUT IT'S OK OTHERWISE

Great if you've already got a Sigg bottle. My friend lost his Sigg bite valve so bought a Camelbak one which was better than the Sigg one. I take my bite valve off and when I want a drink, and just use it to stop the tube leaking.
Sigg bite valve doesn't work unless you've got the sucking power of Linda Lovelace.
Works OK and cheaper than buying a new hydration system.

DON'T BOTHER... CARRY A PLASTIC LEMONADE BOTTLE

The Sigg bottle itself is a classic and unbreakable
The whole system was a waste of time from the valve type stopper on the Sigg bottle , to the tube, mouthpiece and strap clip.
As an experienced water systemn user and tired of punctures/leaks over the years I thought I'd try out the Sigg hydrotube with the classic Sigg bottle. Basically on its first use on a Scottish winter day 2004, when it wasn't falling apart the valve was closing itself at the slightest movement. When I did get the valve to stay open the flow rate was extremely poor and I needed the sucking power of a street gully cleaning machine to get a decent mouthful. Total waste of time and money and really inconvenient to say the least when hydration is a critical issue on a very long day on the tops.

POOR DESIGN

Good if you already have a Sigg bottle
Expensive for what you get poor flow rate and offer poor value for money
I used one on the West Highland Way but found it not as good as the wifes Camelback Bladder the bite Valve fell of whilst walking and so now is no good flow rate is poor

Bought myself a Platypus which was cheaper and is better design and manufacter

SUCK HARD

Turning the top locks the system closed.
The twist to open easily goes too far and comes undone. Compared with companions with Platypus bags it seems I have to suck much harder and their bite valves are bigger and easier to use. You can only swap it better the same size Sigg bottles.
Mixed blessing. I'd buy a (much cheaper) platypus next time and refill it from my Sigg bottle as needed.
