Good for occasional walking on ice

easy to fit
relatively cheap
nice bright yellow!
comes with own carry bag
simple and effective
not for long walks on difficult terrain
not proper crampsons
These are are great, simple mini-crampsons suitable for short walks in icy conditions. Where they score well is actually when used on snowy/icy pavements and fields ie low level and urban use. They are not for extended use or yomping up mountains but then they arent designed for that. They are relatvely cheap, easy to fit and do the job. If you want proper crampons, get some Kahtoolas. If you want occasional light use spikes for everday use, get some Spiders

Excellent product for snow walking

Have used these on winter walking holidays in the Swiss mountains and they were excellent. Have also used them last January and in the current ice and snow in the UK and can't recommend them highly enough. Possibly slightly fiddly to fit but they never come off whether they are being used on walking boots (Scarpa ZG65) or approach boots (Meindl Maine).
Don't listen to the others - there aren't any! They aren't professional crampons but they don't claim to be.
Brilliant product - you will get lots of envious attention

GOOD PRODUCT FOR WINTERWALKING

Nice mini crampons for walking in slippery circumstances.
I do not agree with alexfellwalker.co.uk that the Spider is difficult to bind under your shoe. I used them under mountain shoes (type Meindl Perfekt) and they fitted very well in the space under the shoe. I also walked on steeper icy slopes (in the wood, mixed terrain) with them and it worked out very well.
Maybe alexfellwalker.co.uk used the wrong shoes.
The band may get under the crampon and be harmed. Is not a great weakness.
Very good product.

ESSENTIAL WINTER EQUIPMENT FOR FELL WALKERS

Great grip on icy trails and moderate up and downhill ice slopes.
Lightweight
Fiddly to fit (but stay in place if you fit them properly).
Not suited to steep uphill ice patches
Not a replacement for full crampons if you are into ice climbing but I am not! I wouldn't go out in winter conditions without them in my sac. I can even get my wife out walking on ice now she has a pair- it has transformed her winter walking horizons.

UNRELIABLE

Lightweight, tough, takes up minimal space in your pack. Offers good grip on icy pavement/flat rock for short periods.
The binding system is awful and the whole thing slides off the boot after maybe fifteen minutes of walking. It's also a pain to get tight in the first place. The spikes offer some decent traction on easy ground but on anything steeper than dead flat you have to end up walking on your heels--uncomfortable and unnatural. The points are also made from low-quality steel and rust/wear down quickly.
Okay for the 3-season walker who occasionally runs into patches of ice or verglas on approach routes, but I honestly can't recommend it for anything else: use it on a steep slope and you'll regret it!
