Still going strong after 5 years

Simple
Adjustable comfortable headband
the battery life seems good
reasonable light throw
reasonably cheap
not the brightest (a bit like me)
been replaced by other models
not the lightest
I bought this 5 years ago and it is still working on the same set of batteries! I have relegated it to the back-up kit pile but it gets used by the kids whenever we go camping. I sometimes use it for DIY stuff as well such as plumbing under the sink etc so it does still get used. The headband is one of the most comfortable I have used and although its on or off and therefore very simple in design, it is a decent headtorch. The throw is ok (better than the e-lite) and it does the job. Its not the lightest but not the heaviest either.
Still like it and still use it!

BEST PETZL ALL-ROUNDER

Light (only 78g)
Versatile
Comfortable
Easy to operate
Adjustable beam
A bit tricky to replace the batteries
I've owned a few Petzls over the years, mainly the more powerful ones like the Myo. Lately, I've come to realise that these are over-engineered for what I need. I don't need a beam that can illuminate a Lancaster bomber at 10,000 feet; just something that lets me see in the dark.

The Tikka Plus is the best all-rounder. It's light (half the weight of a Myo XP) and so comfortable to wear that you don't know you've got it on. The beam is certainly strong enough for night walking; I've used it to slog up the Talybont hills and pitch camp. There are 3 light settings so you can choose the lowest for reading in the tent plus a flashing mode for emergencies.

The battery compartment is very compact and it can be a bit fiddly to change the 3 AAAs but you get so many hours of light that you won't have to do this very often.

It's now my first choice for Summer backpacking.

RELIABLE LIL HEADTORCH

A nice variety of settings to save energy
Weatherproof
Nice fit
Cant accidently turn on like my old one!
Long lasting and a good beam
Not alot of use for lighting a wide area/ more than a few steps ahead when walking in the dark-but not many headtorches do.
Better for in the tent/short walks in the dark (unless you prefer no headtorch like me). One of the best I reckon, none the less.

PERFECT

Good warm light. Very lightweight. Easy to operate
None
It's baptism of fire was descending Ben Nevis at night. Lovely little head torch that packs away small and is so light you won't know you're wearing it. Operating it is a doddle. However, for a few pounds more I'd maybe go for a 7 LED or a LED/Bulb combo as prices are pretty competitive
