Superb

Solid construction but not too heavy
Simple and streamlined
Well thought-through design
Lid pocket won't take OS maps
A replacemnt for an over-fussy, strap and buckle laden Osprey sack, I found this to be a huge improvement. It is very well made, thoughtfully designed and, above all, straightforward and without needless frippery. It is comfortable to wear, even on a long, heavy-laden day.
Nice touch- the sternum strap buckle doubles as a whistle- OK, you may never need it, but it adds no weight and is a good example of joined-together design.
Despite having a relatively close to the body frame system, I don't find I get a badly sweaty back with this sack.
Not tried it in heavy rain yet, so can't comment on waterproofness.
The sack has normal top-entry, with a snow baffle/extension. But it also has a chunky zip down one side, enabling you to to grab stuff quickly, without hurling everything out of the top of the sack to get at gear in the bottom.
Only problem is that the small external lid pocket won't fit a laminated OS map. But maybe it's just me who likes to keep them there.
Overall, a great sack.

EXCELLENT

Bigger on the inside. Hydration compatible. Twin lid pocket. Narrow sack for scrambles and stuff. Very stable. Good harness and frame.
Price? 2008 price is roughly £80. No wand pockets. Tall sack means difficulty climbing in a helmet.
Small enough for a daysack, big enough for an expedition, I used mine on ML training and can't praise it highly enough. Popular with the instructors at Plas y Brenin, which made me look like a wannabe, but they like it so who am I to complain. Harness adjusts very close for steep bits, but the back doesn't get sweaty, but the sack remains stable. Not sure about the built in sit mat, like the hydration sleeve, long back means it's comfy. Bit bright for some people but personally I like orange and red. The grade for reliability is a guess cos I haven't had it long.
