VERY LIGHT, BUT WHY NOT USE FULL LENGTH VERSION?

light
not great comfort
I think I would always take the weight of the full length version, and sometimes I use my basecamp for comfort. But it is very light.

LIGHT BUT CAN YOU AFFORD IT?

Very light and is great for those events were you need to keep weight down to a mininum.Packs down very very small.
Very expensive!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all
If you have the cash this is a must for those trying to keep there weight down as much as possible. This is one of the first things I put down on my list of things to take with me on any camping trip,MM etc

REALLY AWFULLY SMALL AND LIGHT INDEED

Small. Light. No, smaller and lighter than that. It's tiny.
I can handle the narrowness and the 3/4 lengthness, but it's also thinner than standard thermarest - and if you are bony like me that means your hip bones hits the ground if you sleep on your side.

It's a pain to get back into the original stupidly-small stuff sack. So I tie mine up with string, which makes more sense anyway.
I pack _very_ light and tend to buy the smallest lightest version of anything going. That's 'cos I'm a weakling. Anyway, this is a great product, but I might have gone for the thicker version in the end. Dang, its light though.

SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

Blow it up to your likeness. Go's into a bivvy bag no problem. Stuffsac good and stuffs anyway in the rac-sac. No dampness striking the old butts.
Need to be extra careful where any thorns or sharp stones are about, then you would check out the pitch anyway. No good for a tall person. I put spare hikky socks on as a extra precaution. on striking camp, you need to get the mat really airtight before it go's back into the sac.

A good mat, very compact, very light. A joy to sleep on. A bit pricey but a good investment for a decent night's kip. For real luxury, try one on top of a Karrimor mat.

THE THERM-A-REST FOR BACKPACKING'

Good compact size when packed (unlike many self inflating mats), comfortable to use!
They aren't cheap are they . . .
It took me a long time to finally get a Thermarest simply because of the cost. I had a very compact air mattress and it just felt like I didn't need to spend the money. I was wrong. If you have no mat or a simple roll mat currently get one of these. The comfort is excellent (from such a thin mat - how do they do it?) and importantly the insulation from the cold ground - very noticable at minus temperatures - is excellent. Just remember to put your feet on your sack or spare clothing to keep them warm. Not cheap but nevertheless very good value.
