Welcome to our routes section where you can find the best hill and mountain walking routes and scrambles in Britain complete with a base map, photographs, a description and - in most cases - a GPX file which you can download to help you follow the walk using a GPS or smartphone.
We’ve arranged the routes into popular geographical areas like the Lake District, North Wales, Peak District and the Scottish Highlands and there’s also a substantial scrambling section complete with some of the classic scramble routes right across Britain.
Some of our routes are classics, some are less obvious, but they all have one thing in common: they’re a cracking way to spend a day in the hills.
There are other hill and mountain walking routes from areas that fall outside the most obvious popular National Parks including walks in stunning location like the North York Moors, mid-Wales, the Pennines, Howgills and more. All of our routes include basic mapping, directions and, in most cases, a downloadable GPX file.
If you’re already visited and walked in the obvious areas like the Lakes, Snowdonia, Dales and so on, check out less visited but still beautiful areas like the Howgills, the Forest of Bowland, mid-Wales and even Cadair Idris on the southern fringes of Snowdonia.
