| Starting from Slaidburn (where you will find a car park, toilets, and a couple of shops) you head first into Croasdale, with views toward Gisburn Forest changing to a tight, boggy valley before ending up on the mettled Salter Track. The Track follows the line of the main Roman N/S road into the bulk of Bowland. Look for Hen Harriers here and after turning left into Whittendale, where they nest near the centre of the UK. As the dale open ups you'll reach a farmhouse. Here you turn left up onto the fell tops for lovely views toward Pendle, and the walk back down to Salidburn. |
