Choose the right lay-by along Fairmile Bottom (A29) and you are exactly at the start of this walk. From the lay-by walk south west straight up Rewell Hill through the woods. After a short way you are over the top and onto the long descent that leads down to the fish ponds and on to the outskirts of Arundel. Negotiate the roundabout and enter Arundel turning north to pass by the Cathedral on the way to the park entrance. Entering the park head straight on toward the triangular Hiorne Tower before turning briefly east to overlook Swanbourne Lake. The path now dives down into the valley before a steep climb up onto the manicured looking grassland. Continuing north and east the path dives down through the woods and through a gate in the park boundary to meet the River Arun. Follow the river bank north and past the limestone cliffs before climbing up to Houghton and turning west. Here the path shadows the B2139 to cross the A29 into Houghton Forest. Continue west through the forest for just over a kilometer befor turning sharply south east back toward the A29. Just before the A29 turn south west alongside the road back to the car at Fairmile Bottom.
