Long description
From Buckhurst Hill Tube Station head westward to the High Road (the old stagecoach route from London to Norwich and haunt of Dick Turpin). Join one of the main paths through Epping Forest by the Cricket Pitch and head north through the forest passing by Loughton Brook and the Theydon Bois Deer Sanctuary before turning westward again across Woodridden Hill. Then head south via High Beach and the Epping Forest Information Centre. After a couple of miles cut across to Connaught Water before continuing south along the River Ching to the lake in Highams Park. After crossing the bridge over the North Circular admire the views across Central London before heading down through the forest to Leyton Flats and Hollow Pond. From there it's a short walk to Leytonstone Tube Station.
Getting there

Both tube stations at start and end of route are on the Central Line.

Facilities

Plenty of pubs along the route. In particular the Queen Victoria at Theydon Bois (a short detour from the main route) or Kings Oak at High Beach are popular venues.
