Short description
This is a nice wild camp trip which takes in Wasdale and some of the more spectacular Lakeland fells. Its a quiet route in most places. Wild camping can be avoided with a stay at either Wasdale campsites or Black sail YHA.

  Park up by the side of the road on Hardknott pass. Walk to Wasdale via Eel Tarn and Burnmoor Tarn. Stop off at the pub in Wasdale to fill up on water, assess the weather and get ready to head for your wild camp. Climb Kirk Fell either by the direct path or via Napes Needle. set up for the night.



Its not a long days walking but make sure your ready for the steep climb up Kirk Fell if your going direct.

  Head down from Kirk Fell to Windy Gap. Take a trip up Great Gable or Green Gable if you wish. Take the path past Styhead Tarn, Sprinkling Tarn, Esk Hause, Tongue, Little Narrow Cove. Past High Scarth Crag and down to Wha House Farm or where ever you managed to park the car.  
 

Getting there

Car is the best route, you could catch the train as far as Dale Garth station and adjust the route.

Facilities

The wild camp has no local streams so fill up at Wasdale and take purification for the next day. Follow guidelines on Wild Camping (Leave no trace).
