This note is to avoid confusion.
The route given is for the ascent of Scafell Pike - the highest peak in England. Scafell is an independent peak to the southwest and separated from Scafell Pike by the airy pass of Mickledore.
Access to Scafell from Mickledore is difficult for walkers. Broad Stand (the most direct way) is a grade 3S scramble and a site of numerous mountain rescues and should not be attempted by walkers. Lord's Rake is full of dangerously loose rocks of all sizes and requires experience and real consideration for those below. There are other less intimidating ways but Scafell is worthy of a day on its own.
