Long description

From Pont Bethania take the signposted path along the lane to afork where you keep left to follow the path alongside the woods. Pass the end of the old slate quarry tramway incline and continue over the wall into Cwm Llan. After crossing the Afon Cwm Llan you reach Gladstone Rock with its plaque remembering the opening of the path in 1892.

From Gladstone Rock the path curves right, passing through the ruined quarry buildings as it starts to climb towards Bwlch Ciliau on Y Lliwedd's ridge. Turn left along the ridge, with good views down to Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn on the right as you move along the ridge. The last main climb zizzags up loose ground to join the Rhyd Ddu Path at the eastern end of Bwlch Main. A short walk now brings you to the summit of Snowdon.
