Short description
Taking in 4 of the Welsh 3000ers this route connects Tryfan to Y Garn via Heather Terrace, Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr. The section between Tryfan's North and South Peaks involves very low grade scrambling where you mat need to use your hands.

  From the A5 take a path around the nose of Milestone Buttress to join Heather Terrace on the East side of Tryfan. Follow Heather terrace to emerge at a bwlch between Tryfan's North and South Peaks. Turn right to take on the North, and highest, peak first then retrace your steps and climb the opposite side to reach the South Peak. From the South Peak descend to Bwlch Tryfan, then move left, over the wall, to start the arduous ascent of the scree slopes on the west side of Glyder Fach. On reaching the summit plateau the impressive Castell Y Gwynt and Cantilever are immediately obvious detours.

  From Glyder Fach cross the slightly sloping plateau, with the option of a scramble up Castell y Gwynt along the way, to Glyder Fawr. The path now descends to Llyn y Cwn above the Devils Kitchen, then climbs steadily up the East side of Y Garn. Escape routes are available throughout the route, with Bwlch Tryfan, Y Gribin and Twll Du giving descents back to the Ogwen valley
