Crazy Angles On Crib Goch - Bonkers Video

Mad camera angles big up the exposure on this cracking Crig Goch video.

A great way to start the week with this unusual video of Crib Goch on Snowdon - it's a ridge that features a lot on YouTube, but trust us, not from this angle.

The video was apparently shot with a cam mounted on a telescopic clip-stick above the scrambler's head and it gives a really dizzying perspective on the classic grade one ridge - if you've ever wondered why you shouldn't look down on exposed ground, here's your answer...

Nice shot video! Is the scrambling up really as steep and exposed as it looks on the video? Pictures I have seen suggest it is not as bad as this camera angle suggests.

It's pretty exposed but I don't remember it being scarily so. Then, I was only 18, fit and fairly fearless when I last did it. I don't think I could do it with such nonchalance now, if at all, to be honest.

I think the angle on the video accentuates the steepness of the intitial buttress a fair bit to be honest - something like the Clogwyn y Person arete is genuinely like that at the base, but the approach to Crib Goch is nothing like that or it wouldn't be graded as a grade one.

It is very exposed on the ridge though, where you first hit it, it's not so bad on the left, but the righthand side is pretty much sheer and the best holds are to that side from memory.
