Friday Matinee - Worst Climbing Film Ever?

So bad it's laugh out loud funny. Relax, with the 'Vertical Limit Guide To Climbing'.

If you've ever seen Vertical Limit, you'll know that it's arguably the worst climbing film ever made. It makes Cliffhanger look like a BMC instructional video and the acting, well, let's just say that after this, you'll believe Pinocchio is a living, breathing human being.

You could watch the whole film, but why bother when someone's created the 'Vertical Limit Guide to Climbing' by taking all the silliest bits out of the full shebang and then added sub-titles dripping with irony for good measure? Our favourite bit is probably still the crevasse rescue using nitroglycerine, but the opening mass climbing fall sequence takes some beating for sheer improbability. Anyway, watch, enjoy and try not snigger all over your keyboard...

And as a bonus, we never tire of the splendid 'The Naturist - Tin Foil' survival expert spoof and given the recent endless rain - the wettest drought ever - it seems strangely appropriate. Don't try this at home though...

Missing the point, surely - VL is so bad that it achieves greatness - and it is funny (sometimes even intentionally), unlike Cliffhanger, K2 and others, which were just dull.

The film 'Descent' beats even VL's backpack bombs for inexplicably contrived plot point - I never was sure why they felt the need to take ice axes on a caving trip.
