Chris Bonington's latest climbing trip is to a relatively unexplored valley in Ladakh in the north west of India.

Based in a small summer settlement called Arganglas at the head of the valley, the team will have around a dozen 6000 metre plus glaciated peaks in their sites, the highest of which is 6789 metres.

The team is a mix of western - including American - climbers and local Indian mountaineers. They expect to reach base camp in early September and to spend the rest of the month climbing before returning to the UK on 7 October.

According to the bonington.com web site, where you can find out more, the expedition will be using a satellite phone to send back reports and pictures from basecamp. Watch this space.
