Sad news from the Alps where leading British climber Jules Cartwright and his client, Julie Colverd, have been killed in a fall on Piz Badile.

Cartwright, 29, was one of the UK's brightest young alpinists having climbed hard routes throughout the world including an acclaimed new route in Alaska and, notably, the first ascent of the difficult NW Ridge of Ama Dablam in the Everest region. His client was a policewoman and the first woman member of the specialist firearms unit in London.

The pair were reportedly roped together and fell from the NE face of the mountain after a slip at approximately 2600 metres. More on the Sky News web site.
