Cola Kills Himalayas

International cola giants fined for damaging delicate Himalayan eco systems

Both Pepsi and Coca Cola have been fined for defacing the Himalayas...

The companies were among 12 firms punished for defacing ecologically sensitive areas of the Indian Himalaya with advertisements and were ordered to deposit money towards repairing the damage they'd caused.

Apparently the advertising was daubed in paint on rocks alongside a major highway in the state of Himachal Pradesh leading to accusations from eco-campaigners that the paint damaged the mini-ecosystems of microbes and mosses on the rocks.

More details here. Arguably of course, painting the rocks would be less damaging than pouring cola over them...
