A bit of easy outdoors reading in last Sunday's Observer Travel section with Clear Waters Rising author Nicolas Crane writing about the Ordesa Canyon in the Pyrenees.

Crane describes his route along the precipitous limestone canyon as part of his 10,000-kilometre mountain walk as 'one of the best mountain hikes I've had in my life'.

Pyrenees album

Returning with his family last summer and wary of disillusionment, he picks his way along the perfect trail of the Faja de Pelay high on the sheer canyon walls. A nice, short read and a place to add to your list of 'must do' walks. Trust us, it's an astonishing place.
