If you want to keep up to date with what's going on in South
America, then you'll be interested in a new service from the South
American Explorers Club.
The organisation, which has club houses in Quito (Ecuador) and
Lima and Cuzco (Peru) and carries regular travellers' news on its
web site has just
started a mailing list to keep users in touch with the latest
developments on the continent.
If you're travelling to South America, particularly the Andean
countries, the SAEC is definitely worth a look. Apart from the web
site, they also produce information packets on popular subjects,
including the definitive 'How Not To Get Robbed In Peru', have a
massive stock of information in their club houses and collate
members' reports on alternative and not so alternative activities
including a huge amount of stuff on trekking and climbing in the
Andes.
Membership is 40 dollars US, which is a relatively small amount if
you're out there for several months and gives access to the main
attractions: comfy club houses with excellent chilling facilities...
