Thomas Huber is returning for another crack at the serious Karakorum giant

Some quick news from the Berghaus web site which is going to be
carrying the latest gen including links to live news from Thomas
Huber's return to Karakorum peak, the Ogre, later this summer.
Huber attempted the mountain with brother Alex back in 1999, but
was unable to summit due to bad weather conditions. This time he's
returning with pals Urs Stocker and Iwan Wolf for another crack at
the notoriously difficult peak.
The mountain's perhaps best known to British mountaineers for the
legendary 1977 epic when after Chris Bonington and Doug Scott
summited the peak for the first time, they were forced into a
tortured retreat after Scott broke both legs high on the mountain.
With the aid of their often ignored climbing partners Mo Anthoine and
Clive Rowland, Scott crawled most of the way down the mountain. To
make matters worse, Bonington also fell and broke a rib.
If you have a spare few hours this summer, try tracking down
'Feeding The Rat', the highly readable biography of Mo Anthoine by Al
Alvarez.
