Kidnapped British hiker pleads for help
First communication from Colombia sent via videotape asks government to work for release
The British hiker kidnapped by rebels in Colombia two months ago has asked his family to put pressure on the British government to do all they can to ensure his release.
The rebel organisation ELN taped the pleas of 31-year-old Mark Henderson at the end of October, but only released the tape two days ago. Along with Mr. Henderson, kidnap victims from Germany and Spain were also filmed commenting on the conditions in which they were being held.
In the first communication to be received from the Henderson is recorded as saying, "It has been almost eight weeks now and also I would like to say to the governments of both England and Colombia that it may be just another day for you lot but it's 24 hours in my life here."
Henderson was one of a group of eight tourists kidnapped in the final stages of their trek to the Lost City in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
