Missing

The family of a British climber who went missing in Chamonix last month are appealing to mountaineers for help in solving the mystery of his disappearance.

This is a picture of Blake Hartley, 25, an officer cadet at Sandhurst, who went missing in Chamonix on 8, August this year. Apparently the local authorities believe that he may have fallen into the river on his way back from a night on the town, however his mother Sally Perrin believes that he is still alive and 'wandering around in the mountainous regions of France Italy or Spain'.

No traces have been found in the Chamonix area despite extensive searches and his family are understandably desperate to know what's happened to him. You can read his mother's full account of the events leading up to Blake's disappearance at www.blakehartley.com and she asks that anyone who is going into the mountains be aware of the situation and, if they see Blake, to get in touch via the web site.

All we can do is echo that and hope that somehow this sad story has a happy ending.
