Last week's Observer Travel section included an account of Peru's classic Inca Trail trek by eco-political writer Will Hutton, worth a quick coffee-break browse we reckon

Okay, it's not exactly news, but Sunday's Observer carried an account of an Inca Trail trek by none other than Will 'the state we're in' Hutton.

Apart from some weird pronouncements about how UK waterproof jackets won't keep Andean rain out for more than a couple of hours - news to us Will - it's a readable article and worth a look if you're trying to avoid doing any proper work. What, us?

Hmmmm.... Let's add a link to the article shall we.

Just read the inca trail article.

Loved the tips, such as make sure your guide is carrying an oxygen cylinder.
Wear layers as a sleeping bag won't keep you warm at freezing temperatures etc. etc.

I can only assume the British anoraks he is refering to are Wax jackets, or similar?

Anyway - this is something I've been wanting to do for years - the Inca Trail up to Machu Pichu, plus visit the plethora of other Incan sites. Also, trekking through the Amazon, Equador, Bolivia, Columbia, Mexico...

I'm getting cabin feaver on this island - need to get out of here for as long as possible!!
