Anabelle Bond, 34, is attempting the Seven Summits and has already
successfully climbed Aconcagua, South American's highest peak.
According to an article on the Independent web site, 'The eldest
daughter of one of Britain's highest-paid businessmen, she has made
regular appearances in gossip columns, linked to potential suitors
including Prince Andrew and American designer Tommy Hilfiger.'
Bond's grandmother, Christine Bond, was part of a 1929 expedition,
'led by the legendary British mountaineer Hugh Rutledge' - who in our
ignorance, we've never heard of - and climbed 'to villages where
white women had never been seen before..'
Her grandmother, now 96 and still living, apparently had real
problems sorting out her wardrobe - "When I arrived, I didn't have
the right clothes at all" she told the Independent. Not so the
current Ms Bond. She's sponsored by Arc'teryx and Salomon...
On her web site she comments: "Arcteryx have always been my
preferred brand as I think they make the most flattering (always
important for women) sports clothes, effortlessly combining fashion
with function using the most high tech fabrics available.
"Even when you are delirious with fatigue at least Arcteryx helps
you look good. My boots are all Salomon and my trekking boots to
basecamp not only look good ( if trekking boots can!) more
importantly they feel like slippers. I will be using their Prothermic
boots on the Khumbu Icefall, the part of the climb that frightens me
the most."
