Rain Hits Inca Trail

Mud slides caused by heavy rain have made access to the trail and Machu Picchu problematic.

A very quick heads up for any OMers in Peru and planning on tackling the Inca Trail in the near future, apparently flooding in the Cusco area has affected the trains in the area making access to the trail and Machu Picchu problematic.

Machu Picchu

The South American Explorers say that travel affected by heavy rain and mudslides in the region 'include the trains to Machu Picchu, which are not currently running due to damage to the rails, hikes to Machu Picchu are also suspended or not advised'.

The organisation stresses that this is the rainy season in Peru and the current conditions shouldn't have any effect on trips planned later in the year.
