Sherpa Girl, 15, Sets Everest Record

A 15-year-old Sherpani has become the youngest climber ever to summit Everest in a week when the oldest and fastest ascents ever have also been made.

A 15-year-old Sherpa girl has become the youngest person ever to climb Mount Everest.

Ming Kipa Sherpa apparently reached the summit on Thursday night along with her sister Lhapka Sherpa, 30, who herself has become the only woman to climb Everest three times.

It's been a mad week on the mountain. Everestnews.com seems to be reporting that around 70 or more climbers summited on the mountain from the south side alone, while in addition to the youngest ever climber, we've had the oldest and the fastest ascents of all time as well.

All a far cry from 50 years ago.
