The Sun, Britain's finest mountaineering journal, continues to amaze us with an article on Vicky Jack, the oldest British woman to have climbed Everest.

Sensationally, in an article on the paper's web site, it listed...

  • Vicky's vital statistics - 51 years old and now seven summits summiteer
  • The size of Everest's summit - 'so small'
  • Her absolute terror, erm, 'I was really quite scared'

In fact it's a neat, objective, non-sensational article with some interesting quotes from Vicky that puts some of the serious broadsheets to shame. Worth a quick read, definitely.

Congratulations to Vicky Jack on her achievement. Having read the Sun's news article I was left a little unsure as to whether she'd completed the Seven Summits, ie one on each continent or as the sun implied the highest seven mountains in the world. Pedantic point I know as the Sun obviously tried hard for once but I had to ask.
