Travel Photography Competition With Big Prizes
The 2004 Travel Photographer of the Year competition is up and running with £60,000-worth of prizes up for grabs, so what are you waiting for, get snapping!

One for budding travel snappers out there is the 2004 Travel
Photographer of the Year Award, which goes by the snappy abbreviation
'TPOTY' to stop PR people wearing out their expensive
keyboards.

Wierdly enough, TPOTY is a competition aimed at travel
photographers which launched last year and has more sponsors behind
it and prizes up for grabs than the Premier League. Last year
photographers from 34 countries submitted just under 10,000 images,
this year the organisers are expecting even more.
There are four portfolio categories covering 'every aspect of
travel photography' it says here - a 'single image' cat', a speclial
young photographer class, student awards and the overall Travel
Photographer of the Year too.
In fact there are so many prizes and portfolio categories that
it's enough to unscrew your head and send it bouncing across the
floor. All we'll tell you here is that the total value of prizes is a
whopping £60,000 and that the overall winner and a companion
will land a pair of round the world tickets, 2,000 quid's worth of
photographic equipment and some software too.
It's a paid for competition though, unless you're under 17, and
you can enter as many pics in as many categories as you like. Closing
date is September 17, 2004, so get snapping.
