Overview: Ideal for the day after a trip to
Arran's distillery, or when the cloud's covering Goatfell and Cir Mor,
this route climbs the ridge running down the centre of Holy Island
before taking in the buddhist rock paintings along the west. Although
not quite a scramble, the final bit of ascent to Mullach Mor and the
steep descent do benefit from a bit of hands on rock.
Holy Island is owned by a Buddhist charity, but despite popular belief
doesn't have a monastary. The island has a set of rules which include
no alcohol and no smoking, and can only be reached by ferry from
Lamlash (£9 return) - so keep an eye on time for the last
ferry back!
