We're still going to be running a new walking or scrambling route
every week on OM, but from now on, the route will go straight into
our new
Routes
System.
That means that not only can you get the usual detailed route
description and photos, but you can also see the route on a real
Ordnance Survey map generated with our partners at Anquet, plus you
can download a GPS file in either Anquet or universal GPX format.

A popular circular route along the boundary of the Dark
and White Peak. The route can be taken in either direction,
though tackling it clockwise has the advantage of gaining
height further into the walk.

This week's route is a classic Peak District circuit starting and
finishing in Hope and traversing the Mam Tor ridge after climbing up
Cavedale from Castelton. Because the route lies right on the border
between the gritstone of the Dark Peak and the limestone of the White
Peak, you get to experience both types of rock in one manageable day.
There are also excellent views, particularly looking across
towards Kinder Scout as it towers above Edale on the other side of
the valley. See

The OM
Routes System
Our new routes
system lets you map your favourite walks, runs,
scrambles or
rides, creates an OS map of the route and GPS data files and gives
you the choice of saving the route for your own personal use or
sharing it with other OM members. Go and have a play, it's dead good
:-)
