Overview: A long day from Langdale to
Coniston with lots of ups and downs. The five-and-a-half thousand feet
of ascent is almost equally divided North and South of the
Wrynose/Hardknott passes. For Wainwright baggers there are easy options
to add the nearby summits of Bowfell and Cold Pike to the
North.
The route follows two main ridges, from Three Tarns to Cockley
Beck, then from Grey Friar to Wetherlam, whilst avoiding the more
illustrious neighbours of Bowfell, Scafell Pike and Coniston Old
Man. [Full route]
